Today I am celebrating the birthday of someone very special to me! Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl! Knowing her special day was coming up, I just had to design a Super Special card for her! I think I hit the mark…what do you think?
Masks and Embossing Paste
I’ve been on a Black & White trend lately with my designs. I love the elegance it gives to a card. Plus, Black just happens to be the favorite color of my birthday girl, so.. (yes, she’s a walking statement of elegance too!) I love adding texture to my cards…so the Sweet Soire’e Decorative Masks paired with White Embossing Paste was definitely going to add just what I wanted for this card.
TIP
Applying Embossing Paste over the Masks is much like icing a cake! First step, you spread it over the mask just like you would to a cake. The second step is to use your palette knife to remove all the excess paste from the mask. Last step, carefully lift up the mask and admire your work!
Decorating with Embellishment Kits
Do you think you must create every element for your cards from scratch? I don’t! I love using the embellishment kits Stampin’ Up! offers on my cards. It’s quick. It’s easy. And the Sweet Soire’e Embellishment Kit just ROCKS! It has tassels, scalloped velvet trim, tags and these awesome foiled flowers and vellum foiled leaves! All I had to do was add some Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the flowers to pop them onto my card front. I used Mini Glue Dots to add the vellum leaves.
Celebrating with Sentiment Options
The ‘Celebrate’ sentiment was the obvious choice for the sentiment for my card. A quick 1/2″ Whisper White card stock strip, dove-tailed on one end is all I needed. I could have used any of the sentiments from the Cake Soire’e stamp set…they all would have been perfect!
As a demonstrator, I truly enjoy sharing what I love about paper crafting and Stampin’ Up! with everyone! But I know that excitement extends to my wonderful customers as well. To have friends to craft with is what makes our hobby so fun, so we share what we love with others to get them hooked too. Stampin’ Up! wants to help you in your mission, so they have come up with a suite for this very thing called “Share What You Love!” You will be seeing this beautiful new suite in the brand new catalog that goes live on June 1st.
So why am I tell you this now when June 1st is a whole month away? Because we want you to Share What You Love NOW! That’s right, from May1-31, Stampin’ Up! is releasing this suite to customers 1 month early for a special preorder!

Today’s project is an adorable candy box that anyone would love to receive for Valentine’s Day, or any occasion for that matter, using some great products from the Occasions Catalog…namely, A Good Day stamp set!
If the “A Good Day” stamp set from the Occasions Catalog isn’t already on your wish list, it would be a great one to add. It has the most adorable images…and so perfect to punch out with the Scallop Circle Punches for a quick addition or main focus to a card. It would make a great $50 bundle, and then you can take advantage of a Sale-A-Bration level 1 FREEBIE!
Two-Tone Sentiment
In case you’re wondering how the “Just for you” sentiment words are in black, but the pointed fringe is Melon Mambo, just stamp the sentiment on two separate pieces of Whisper White; one in Memento and one in Melon Mambo. Now, you’ll punch the Memento one out with the 1″ circle punch and then the Melon Mambo one gets punched using the 1-3/8″ scallop circle punch. Layer one on the other and you’ve accomplished the two-tone look! Add a little more pop by running a gold sheet through the Big Shot using 1-3/4″ layering circle framelits and layer the sentiments on top using dimensionals.
The Box
Now let’s take a look at how the box was made. I’ll take you step-by-step with pictures so hopefully you can go straight to your craft room and create one yourself!
First, you’ll need 2 pieces of Melon Mambo cardstock; one cut to 6-1/2″ x 11″ and the other cut at 2-5/8″ x 4-1/2″. Cut off the two 5/8″ pieces and the 1/4″ x 5/8″ on the opposite corners as shown.
Next, Make a mark with a pencil 2″ down from the top. Align the Painted With Love DSP at the top of this piece.
Using your Stampin’ Trimmer, align the 2 from the score line to the 2″ mark along the groove of the Trimmer as shown. Cut off the wedge.
Now, adhere 1-3/8 x 5-1/8 to the second panel as shown.
Next, you need to cut a window out leaving a 1/4″ frame around the cut. Do this by using the Trimmer and aligning on the 1/4″ mark (on the right side) and cut 1/4″ down and stop 1/4″ from the DSP end.
Adhere tear tape to inside of frame and adhere window sheet.
Next, we close the wedge flap. This makes the pocket for the card. Adhere the “box” right at the 4-1/2″ score line and then close one end with adhesive.
Next, if you haven’t already eaten all the chocolate while making your fun box, wrap 5 chocolate nuggets with 1″ x 3-1/5″ strips of DSP and insert into the box and then close up the other end.
Finally, punch a hole in the top of the card and finish off with Powder Pink Shimmer ribbon and bow.
Hope this inspires you to try something new if you haven’t made something like this before!

Today I’ve got a bright and cheerful card for you, friend, to drive those winter blues away. At least it’s been cold and snowy where I’m at! I could use a little sunshine and happiness right about now. This card should do the trick!
Fruit Basket Bundle
This card features some fabulous product from the Occasions Catalog! It starts off with the Fruit Basket Bundle. That stamp set is where our “Hello Friend” sentiment and those cute pineapples came from. The pineapples were stamped as well as punched out with the Itty Bitty Fruit Punch Pack and the stem layered on top of the stamped image with a mini dimensional. A fun way to make your card pop!
We get more fun with the Tutti-frutti Adhesive-Baked Sequins scattered on the card. There’s nothing better than having your sequins already have adhesive on them! Am I right?!
Sale-A-Bration Bundle Idea
Want to use some of these products on your next card? Here’s a great $50 bundle idea to get these products in your hand as well as qualify for a Sale-A-Bration FREEBIE!
Sequins Make It Picture Perfect!
Next, I took a piece of vellum and ran it through the Big Shot with the Scattered Sequins embossing folder and layered it on top of Daffodil Delight card stock. Under half of the vellum I put a piece of the Bubbles & Fizz DSP (a Sale-A-Bration level 1 freebie) because you can never have too much of that Lemon Lime Twist color!
To finish off the card, I put down some Lemon Lime Twist 3/8″ mini striped ribbon and on top of that, used my Big Shot and a die from the Sweet Cake Framelits Dies which I stamped my sentiment and pineapples on. Tie it off with some Whisper White Baker’s Twine and you’re on your way to sending a card that’s sure to brighten your friend’s day!

What do petals, bubbles and sequins all have in common? This gorgeous card, that’s what!
PETALS
This card uses the gorgeous Petal Palette stamp set (in the new Occasions Catalog) along with the Petals & More Thinlits Dies. Of course, you can save 10% by buying the Petal Palette Bundle! There are so many beautiful images and great sentiments in this stamp set! Here’s a closer look:
However, for this card, just one of the sentiments is used. It’s sitting on top of one of the intricate lace-type dies that was run through the Big Shot on a Multipurpose Adhesive sheet for quick and easy assembly! Be sure and check out all the great samples that are shown on page 22 of the Occasions Catalog using the Petal Passion Suite HERE.
BUBBLES
The great pop of color comes from the Sale-A-Bration freebie, Bubble & Fizz Designer Series Paper! It’s so fun and versatile! And it’s FREE with a $50 purchase. It’s layered on top of Calypso Coral cardstock to make it pop even more!
SEQUINS
Take a closer look at that Vellum Cardstock layer. It was run through the Big Shot using the Scattered Sequins Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (Occasions Catalog). And the sequins keep coming with those fun Tutti-frutti Adhesive-backed Sequins scattered on top of the velum for added color and fun…another great find in the Occasions Catalog!
