I’m really excited to bring you card that just so happens to be my design! It’s time to get a little spooky in the graveyard!
If these images don’t look familiar to you, then you must not have one of our new Holiday Catalogs in your possession yet, because I used 2 sets from that catalog; Spooky Cat and the Graveyard Gate Bundle.
Tips
Spooky Night Background – To get this eerie night-time scene, I used Glossy White CS, Elegant Eggplant and Basic Black Archival ink, a Sponge Brayer and a Stampin’ Sponge. Next I punched a 1-3/4″ circle and tacked it down to cover the area where the moon would be.
Elegant Eggplant ink was used to color the entire Glossy White CS with a Sponge Brayer until I got the desired darkness I wanted, trying to leave some areas light and some areas a little darker. I then took a Stampin’ Sponge and Basic Black Archival ink and darkened in some areas on the front as well as the edges of the Glossy White paper.
To finish my spooky night background, I removed the punched circle covering my moon area and then placed the ‘negative’ over the un-inked area. I then sponged my moon using Crushed Curry ink. It doesn’t get much spookier than that!
The Gate
Do you love this gate? I love this gate! This is from the Detailed Gate Thinlits set and I just die cut it using Basic Black CS. But to make it the fabulous focal point that it is, I simply colored over it with a Clear Wink of Stella pen. I just love how it turned out!
Fussy Cutting
You know how I love to fussy cut, so of course I did just that for a few of the elements on this card like the:
- Owl — After stamping on Basic Gray CS with Basic Black Archival ink. After fussy cutting, I also colored with Clear Wink of Stella and added Black Rhinestone Jewels for his eyes.
- Brick column — After stamping with Cajun Craze ink onto Cajun Craze CS. After fussy cutting, I also sponged the edges lightly with Basic Black Archival ink.
- Rat — After stamping with Basic Black Archival ink onto a piece of Basic Gray CS scrap.
Hope this inspires you to get some spooky Halloween creations made! If you were inspired, leave a comment to be entered into my daily drawing for a free gift!
Hugs & Smiles,
Angela
